The Blockley Partnership is a long established practice located in the centre of Tunbridge Wells. It has been situated on Mount Ephraim since 1936 and is an ideal mix of the old and new. The building is a beautiful Georgian house with convenient off-road parking, and contains modern dental surgeries that allow for the provision of high quality dental care.
There are currently seven dentists at the Blockley Partnership and they are ably supported by a team of five hygienists. Our team also includes nine dental nurses and five receptionists, all of whom are overseen by our practice management team.
Ian Cooter
BDS (Lond) • GDC No. 61845
Ian qualified from Guy’s Hospital in 1986 and joined the practice in 1987. He has a special interest in prosthetic dentistry (dentures) and previously worked in the Prosthetic Department at Guy’s, gaining advanced experience in this field. Ian continues to attend postgraduate courses in restorative and cosmetic dentistry.
Robert Kirwan
BDS (Lond), LDSRCS (Eng), MSc (Lond) • GDC No. 64000
Robert trained at University College Hospital London, qualifying in 1988, before completing an MSc in Conservative Dentistry at Guy’s Hospital. He subsequently taught undergraduate students at Guy’s, further developing his clinical and academic expertise. His main interests include cosmetic dentistry, crown and bridgework, and dental implant treatment. Robert joined the practice in 1996.
Rakesh Saksena
BDS (Lond), LDSRCS (Eng), MSc (Lond) • GDC No. 68481
Rakesh graduated from King’s College London in 1992 and completed an MSc in Conservative Dentistry at Guy’s Hospital, where he now teaches part-time. His principal interests lie in cosmetic dentistry and endodontics (root canal treatment), and he provides a referral service for complex endodontic cases. Rakesh joined the practice in 2000.
Mayur Patel
BSc (Hons), BDS (Lond), MJDF RCS (Eng) • GDC No. 104012
Mayur qualified from King’s College London in 2006. He subsequently passed the examinations for membership of the Royal College of Surgeons England. He has a keen interest in cosmetic and prosthetic dentistry, including crown and bridgework, dentures, and dental implants. Mayur joined the practice in 2013.
Karen Blake
BDS (Lond), MJDF RCS (Eng), MClinDent (Prosthodontics) • GDC No. 103911
Karen qualified from King's College London in 2006 and gained membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007. She completed her master's degree in clinical Dentistry in 2018. Karen has a special interest in periodontics and oral surgery and is skilled with working with nervous patients. Karen joined the practice in 2009.
Jay Robinson
BDS (Liverpool) • GDC No. 73429
Jay qualified from the University of Liverpool in 1997 and has over two decades of experience in general and hospital dentistry, including special needs care. She is passionate about minimal intervention and aesthetic treatments, particularly dental artistry using bonding techniques to enhance smiles. Jay joined the practice in 2022.
Carolina Vazquez
BDS (Madrid), DipImp (Warwick) • GDC No. 120189
Carolina qualified from Alfonso X University, Madrid, in 2005 and has practised in the UK since 2008. She holds a Diploma in Implant Dentistry from Warwick University and has completed advanced training in facial aesthetics. Her areas of expertise include restorative and cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, and facial aesthetic treatments. Carolina joined the practice in 2024.
There are currently five hygienists at the Blockley Partnership, this ensures that there is at least one hygienist here every day.
Chloe Beasley
Dental Hygienist — GDC No: 180021
Chloe trained at the Eastman Dental Hospital in London and qualified as a dental hygienist in June 2015. She has worked in the dental profession since 2007 and is passionate about her role. Her caring and friendly approach helps put even the most nervous patients at ease.
Chloe joined the practice in January 2016.
Cindy Tuer
Dental Hygienist — GDC No: 5095
Cindy graduated from The Royal London Dental Auxiliary School in 1996, receiving the “Old Londoners” prize for most supportive student. She has a strong interest in teaching and furthered her education by achieving a BSc in Dental Studies with first-class honours, followed by an MSc in Dental Education and has since commenced a doctorate.
Cindy joined the practice in February 2021.
Karen Wallder
Dental Hygienist — GDC No: 4141
Karen trained at Guy’s Dental School and qualified as a dental hygienist in 1991. She has a special interest in supporting patients with their oral hygiene, focusing on developing effective home-care routines.
Karen joined The Blockley Partnership in February 2021.
Mala Saluja
Hygienist — GDC No: 295473
Mala has worked in dentistry since 2006. Her gentle and friendly manner helps to reassure patients and create a comfortable experience. She regularly attends professional development courses to stay up to date with advancements in dental hygiene.
Mala joined the practice in November 2022.
Hayley Summerhayes
Hygienist — GDC No: 224417
Hayley qualified as a dental hygienist from the University of Portsmouth Dental Academy in 2023. She began her career at The Blockley Partnership as a dental nurse before progressing to become a hygienist. Hayley prides herself on her gentle, caring approach to patient care.
Hayley joined the practice in October 2015 and has worked as a hygienist since August 2023.

The practice has a Practice Manager who is well supported by several office staff ensuring the efficient day-to-day running of the business. We also have a very experienced team of receptionists.
Sarah Decelis
Sarah Decelis joined the practice in 2005 after previously working in advertising for a large retail company. Sarah is responsible for patient liaison, managing the practice staff, and together with Becky Guy covers the financial and administration and secretarial work within the practice.
